Immediate Family Members wishing to visit Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents and Persons Registered Under Canada’s Indian Act

Immediate family members of Canadian citizens, permanent residents and persons registered under Canada’s Indian Act may enter Canada to visit you, as long as they:

  1. Have the proper travel documentation (find out if your family member needs a visa or eTA, by completing the form here)

  2. Have a valid passport

  3. Are symptom-free of COVID

  4. Present proof that they are your immediate family member

  5. Provide proof that you are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person registered under Canada’s Indian Act

  6. Show proof that they will stay in Canada for 15 days or more or that they are travelling for a non-discretionary reason

  7. A quarantine plan for the first 14 days after their arrival at their final destination

Who qualifies as an immediate family member?

From the perspective of the Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person registered under Canada’s Indian Act, an immediate family member is your:

  • spouse

  • common-law partner

  • dependent children

  • dependent child’s dependent children

  • parents

  • step-parents

  • guardian
